The Chicken and the Egg Dilemma

The question, which of the two was there first

Nowadays we know that chickens, or eggs, for that matter, were not created by God, but that they are the product of a long evolution, difficult to solve. To begin with, we have to specify that we will be speaking about chickens and chicken's eggs, not about chickens and any kind of eggs, because in that case, the answer is trivial and uninteresting. This seems evident, but I mention it because of its importance further in my analogy

Let us call the animal which preceded chickens in the evolution of the species the Alpha chicken, or A-chicken for short.

One day a A-chicken must have laid an egg, out of which a modern chicken emerged. The arrival of this strange chicken has maybe happened on several occasions independently, and the first modern chicken might not be the ancestor of all our chickens, or it might even have died childless, but this is actually not important in my analogy.
The only factor of importance is, whether the egg out of which the first modern chicken was born, was a real chicken's egg. If this egg actually was a chicken's egg, then the Egg existed before the Chicken, if not, it can only have originated later.

Now we still have to define a chicken's egg. At first sight, there seem to be three possibilities: a chicken's egg is an egg laid by a chicken (we might call this the popular definition of a chicken's egg), or a chicken's egg is an egg out of which a chicken is born, or a chicken's egg is an egg laid by a chicken, out of which a chicken is born. In fact, only the first definition can be right, because also the eggs we eat, which most certainly do not contain chickens, are called chicken's eggs. And on top of that, if eggs were named after what they contained, there would also have to exist cock's eggs.

No, the genitive form can only refer to the maker, not to the inhabitant of the egg.
So history has taught us!!!! This is a Fact!

So, as the egg, out of which the first chicken emerged, cannot have been a chicken's egg, because it was laid by a A-chicken, and as i have clearly stated that the Egg in the Dilemma of the Chicken and the Egg can only have been meant as a chicken's egg.

Thus, my analogy concludes that the Egg came into existence after the Chicken.
Makes sense doesn't it?

The Future - Built by our Young Generation

Was Just reading an article, Times Magazine, while i was taking a dump, about how the S'pore Government, PM lee is shaping up the Future Singapore. The Young Generation at present, who will be playing a key fundamental role in moulding our lion city.

NOW, 40 years ago,we were one of the poorest countries in Asia. We were poorer than India, Malaysia, Thailand and even Indonesia who were thriving at that moment with the Dutch Colonolization.

In 40 years, WE have become one of the most aspired and richest state in ASIA. Our Global signature is impeccable. Truly impressive. All made possible by our pioneers and forefathers, the Older Generation.

Now back to PM lee's vision of the future build by our younger generation.
I am very very afraid and sad.

Teenagers and some young adults ( 18 to 23) are getting more ignorant and pampered.
Tragically, they are more well informed about the contestants of Project Superstar than to even realise that our President actually went through a elective process and is carrying on his next term

I can bet my last dollar, if you walk out on the streets, approach any young adult, be it a NUS/NTU/SMU/SIM undergraduate, he or she will tell you the names of 3 Project Superstar contestants or perhaps the latest American Idol winner.

But when quizzed about the presidential election, asking them to name 1, brave dude who contested(thats actually a strong word), who applied to be the Next S'pore president, am pretty sure they would have absolutley no idea.

Some are more informed about the trials of Ming Na murder than the sitaution in the USA.
If the oil prices are going to remain as it is, its going to have an huge effect on the global economy.
HELLO People - anyone at HOME?
Maybe they are too busy finding out Zoe Tays Baby's name or Tay Peng Hui girfriend's name.

The Future - Built by our Young Generation ?

And what about National Service. I hear that you can ONLY punish soldiers at different times of the day. AND there is a limit for punishment?
Have you seen Pulau tekong lately?
I read they are going to have futher developments so to make the soldiers and their parents feel as comfortable as possible.

The Future - Built by our Young Generation ?

I would also like to raise this issue about Puntuality. Punctuality is the core of Discipline and Self Enrichment.
I just gave a talk to my colleagues about Punctuality. Also realised that Younger adults are not well versed in Time management
They seem to take things granted, arrive for work late, go to appointments late.
GEEZ!

In the early 80s there were no MRT system. Handphones were not affordable. Our roads and bus system were not as fluid as of now.
AND, people still manage to come to work or meets schedules on time.

There is no excuse for being late. If you think you are, then you have to make provisions.Contigencies. Plan. Adapt and Improvise.
You DO know how to go to a movies on time.
You DO know how to switch on your favourite TV program before it starts
